Standing Tall

This weeks PAW comes to you in celebration of my courage (stupidity?). After so many weeks of being so scared I went out today to try out my new Canon 20D, it took me about 2 seconds to realize that there's no chance of stealth with that thing stuck in front of my face but I also realized that it feels like a shield ( I'm not sure if that's a good thing). This guy was my biggest challenge, he was walking straight towards just a few meters away and the light on his hair was just wonderful, I couldn't help myself I just had to take the shot....then I asked if it was OK. He turned out to be a pussycat with a real cute boyish smile, whew, who'd have thought. I like the irony of the way he's framed with a "halo" around his head.

I know what you mean about the 20D -- there's nothing subtle about it! That's a great capture. I wonder how much gel he has on his hair to keep it up!

I admire your bravery - and the picture! The light on this guy's hair and the twinkle in his sunglasses make the shot.

Stunning capture and great story, too. I have always found that appearances are often deceptive...

The look on his face would definately have deterred me in the first place! Good capture and such bravery! Glad to hear it wasn't an aggressive confrontation. It is a great street shot!

Such great hair! Wish I had the nerve to take the shot - congrats on such a wonderful capture!

...on the other hand, a good long-range telephoto lens lets you stay a long way from your subject and still capture this shot (which you did admirably at close range).
